build-your-list-with-captionIf you want to grow your business online, you MUST grow your email list. Why? By consistently adding new prospects to your list, you’re creating new opportunities to promote your services or products to potential buyers and make sales. And the best strategy for getting prospects to join your list is by offering them a “can’t resist gift”—something of value that you provide in exchange for their email addresses. (Learn more about this strategy here.)

This week, I’m sharing 5 often overlooked spots to promote your “can’t resist gift.” Are you missing any of these?

1. Your email signature

You likely send emails all day long to various contacts who may or may not already be on your list, so your signature is great spot to promote your free offer. In fact, if you get a personal email from me, here’s exactly what you’ll currently find right after my name & title…and above all my contact info (email, website, social media links):

Bonus Tip: You may want to change this section up every once in a while. It’s a great spot to feature anything you’re currently promoting (free call, program or product launch, live speaking engagement, etc.)

2. Your outgoing voicemail message

In many cases, someone who calls to inquire about your services might not be on your list. They may be a referral or someone who just found you through Google.
Here’s a sample script to show how to use this “air time” to invite people back to your website to join your list.

3. Your business card

The back of your business card provides you with great real estate to direct people to your gift. Again, here’s sample wording for how you could do this…

Do you struggle to attract a consistent stream of clients?
Do you wonder if you’ll ever make good money in your business?

4. Below your blog posts

When’s a great time to invite someone to join your list? Right after they just finished reading your incredibly valuable content! So, while you (hopefully) have your opt-in form high up on your page, you also want to include one right below your blog posts.

Bonus Tip: Be sure your opt-in form is on EVERY page of your website. You never know where people will enter your site, so placing your form in your header or sidebar will ensure they’ll see it no matter where they’re coming from.

5. Speaking engagements

When you’re appearing in front of a live audience, speaking on a telesemiar (yours or someone else’s) or being interviewed on a radio show, you definitely want to let people know how they can join your list and get your gift. At live events, you can simply pass around a sign-up sheet and on telesminars or radio shows, typically the interviewer will ask you to share how folks can get more information. Rather than just directing them to your website (which so many people do), be proactive and tell them about your free gift and how they can get access to it.

I’d love to hear…Are you promoting your “can’t resist gift” in all of these spots? If not, which one(s) would you like to add? Please go ahead and post in the comments below…
