Do you know the best time to post on Facebook? This is one of the most frequently asked questions related to Facebook marketing—and the answer is that the best time to post is when your fans are online. And the great news is that with the new Facebook Insights, it’s super simple to find out exactly when that is…
Here’s how to do it…
Step 1: Go to your Facebook page, click the down arrow next to the gear and select “View Insights.”
Step 2: Click on the “Posts” tab, then “When Your Fans Are Online.”
Note that these numbers aren’t related to your content—so it’s not at all influenced by when you’ve posted in the past, the quality of your posts, etc. The graph simply shows when your fans happened to be online, looking at anything Facebook.
Step 3: Determine the best time(s) to post on Facebook, keeping in mind the times when you have the most fans online.
For example, based on the graph below, the best time for me to post would be 8:00PM.
Ideally, you want to post 2-4 times throughout the day though. So you’ll want to pick a few times to work with.
And why is increasing your reach even more important than ever? If you post status updates when your fans are most likely to be online, you have a better chance of getting more engagement (likes, comments and shares). And now, EdgeRank, the algorithm Facebook uses to determine what appears in the News Feed is rewarding posts that receive a lot of engagement with “story bumping.” This means that they can reappear toward the top of the News Feed for people that might not have seen them the first time they were there—greatly expanding that post’s reach.
Step 4: Continue to check in to look for any changes to your data and/or trends over time. Adjust your posting strategy accordingly.
